Looking for an accounting and compliance solution that can initiate a finance plan for your business and be offered at a set fee? Our New Business Start-Up is designed for a new business owner who wants a clear understanding of the accounting and financial processes of the business and to learn the fundamentals of the accounting process as an everyday business tool.

This program, which operates for 3 to 6 months, allows you to get on with the task running your new business while the accounting and compliance is kept in order and presented so you can track the progress of the business in its early stages.

This introductory program will include:
  • Company formation, ABN and TFN applications.
  • Industry data that we may hold on file.
  • Bookkeeping, accounting and compliance planning. This includes the timely presentation of profit and loss and balance sheet statements for GST requirements or, when required, to assess the operation of the business.
  • Advice on invoice procedures, filing and administration that will help to streamline operations, especially when the business gets busy and begins to grow.
The new business owner will also be introduced to and learn about:
  • The chart of accounts and the accounting process used to record the financial progress of the business.
  • The reporting process, what each report is, and how to read these beginning with the profit and loss report and balance sheet.
  • Understand the difference between cash and accrual accounting and when to use each.
  • The benefits of cash flow planning.
  • A good grounding in business basics, which includes a copy of the book “How Not To Commit Business Suicide”

This work is delivered by completing the accounts and meeting with clients on a regular basis to discuss the performance of the business. Finance ReCharge

This is an ideal product for any business that has been trading for some time and has never had a proper accounting process, has outgrown the systems they have been using, or the business has been part of a restructure and turnaround process.

This product is managed by our senior accountants so that you have the best mentoring available to help get you back on track.

This product will refresh and rebuild the financial processes of a business and, along with stakeholders, build a financial plan within the cash, market and human resources of the business. It will also include training the stakeholders to completely understand their accounting system and gain benefit from the information made available to them on a daily basis.

  • Surveying the business processes and requirements then resetting the chart of accounts so that relevant financial information is available every day.

52 Week Program

This product is the cornerstone of our accounting firm services and includes:
  1. Completion of all BAS, PAYG returns and other ATO compliance issues that need to be dealt with throughout the year.
  2. Completion of annual returns for the business.
  3. Monthly check-ups of your accounting system so that you know you have a full set of true accounts available to you at any time to measure the performance and value of your business.
  4. A full set of accounts every quarter -not just once a year-so that all Journal entries and other transactions that need to be completed are always up to date so you can assess your business position. This is extremely valuable, especially in the third quarter. Tax planning and arrangements can be made well before 30th June to bring the stakeholders the best possible options for legitimate tax planning.
  5. A business accountant who is assigned to help you and be available to answer any query no matter how large or small, in regards to the processing of the accounts.
  6. A bookkeeping service, if required. Your in-house bookkeeper can receive training sessions with our accountants and when we check the accounts every month we are able to advise and train on any issues.
  7. Regular planned meetings with a senior accountant to complete a business review.

Fresh Numbers has designed this product so that whether you’re around the corner from one of our city offices or in remote Australia, you have access to a full bookkeeping, accounting and taxation service without leaving your office.

From Kununurra to Archer River, or just round the corner in Surry Hills or Fortitude Valley, this product allows you to have a full bookkeeping and accounting service without leaving your business, your town, or even your state.

In many cases this is far cheaper than employing internal staff, and for those of our clients in remote parts of Australia the need to make trips to a major city once or twice a year is removed. We offer our clients the same services that any of our clients within metropolitan Australia currently have access to.

Fresh Numbers will assess the client’s needs, update the accounts by using a data file that is moved between us and our clients or, complete accounts on a regular basis through the use of high speed scanners. Scanners will provide us with an electronic version of all required documentation in a timely manner so that we can process and update your accounts when needed.

So, in many cases the scanning and filing is all you have to do, with the accounting reports coming through to you every day or week (as required). This is, in many cases, faster than if you had received reports from in-house staff.

The real value of this service is:

  1. Your business accounts are kept up to date and accurate for use as a business tool.
  2. The BAS is ready and completed on time, along with other compliance requirements from the Australian Taxation Office, The State Revenue Office and other relevant authorities.

Fresh Numbers Payroll System

This is an ideal product for many of our larger 52 Week Program clients. It allows the internal staff to prepare daily and weekly management reports without the time-consuming effort of completing payroll. Often payroll may be complicated or require special care, and our Fresh Numbers team is able to deal with all of your payroll requirements.

In your business, payroll is the sum of all financial records of salaries for an employee, wages, bonuses and deductions. In Australia, the biggest cost to a business is usually the cost of labour; so it’s important that not only is this processed but it is measured against the performance of the business,such as its’ sales and productivity.

Fresh Numbers can develop specialised reports for you. This can help you to measure the performance of labour on a weekly basis.

Fresh Numbers understands that employee morale requires payroll to be paid on time and accurately. We will develop a system with you to allow this to happen.

Business Financial Review

When considering changing accountants, many business stakeholders wonder what additional value they will be getting. We have devised a product where we can completely review your business based on your current business accounts.

This is ideal for a business growing, considering expansion and growth, or wishing to consolidate their position. We provide a full description of the financial position of the business using the established accounts over two or more periods that are relevant to the business.

The business needs to have been established for at least two years with a turnover of more than $250,000. Our fees for this work are absorbed by us if the business stakeholders decide to use Fresh Numbers as their new accountants.

Reports are an important starting point when reviewing a company’s current chart of accounts, methodology and business practice in relation to its finances and finance plan. Many business owners have used these reports to make significant changes and improve the cash flow of the business. As such, we take extra care to ensure that your reports are both up to date and error-free.

Forensic Accounting Services

Forensic accounting is the specialty practice area of accountancy that describes engagements that result from actual or anticipated disputes or litigation.

The term “Forensic” means “suitable for use in a court of law”, and it is to that standard and potential outcome that forensic accountants generally have to work.

While this service is available and taken up by law firms, potential clients may require a special investigation into their accounts where they feel there may be a large discrepancy between what should be in the business and what isn’t in the business.

Unfortunately, when a stakeholder in a business believes that a partner, staff member or other has perhaps been dishonest, a forensic accountant is there to investigate and discover the real truth of the matter.

While our forensics service generally relates to serious issues, this service is also being used to investigate businesses where the owners wish to know if there is a solvency problem or other major concern that may relate to opportunities or actions within their marketplace.

Our forensic specialists will treat every job carefully by scoping out the work with our client and then proceeding methodically using source documents, accounting data and other materials that are available.
